An innovative performance bringing to light the little-known story of Doreen Davey, who fought for hours to land the largest line caught salmon ever fished from the River Wye in 1923.
This unique production combines puppetry with live performance and features collaboration with a community choir, telling this remarkable story in a light-hearted and engaging way.
Premiered as part of the Voices for the Wye event alongside a folk band and choir, this project exemplifies Her Story Theatre Company’s commitment to skill-sharing and partnership working. Through collaboration with a professional musical director and members of the local community, the production aims to introduce new audiences to theatrical performance while fulfilling the company’s desire to work in partnership with other professionals, community groups, and voluntary organisations.
The use of puppetry represents an expansion of the company’s theatrical techniques, demonstrating versatility and creative ambition in storytelling approaches.
